The boy walks through the cabin door and is pleased to see that the place has survived another winter in his absence, the forest looking after it as it always has. These worn wooden walls have heard his family’s stories a thousand times and in recent years, he’s been proud to add a few tales of his own to the lore.

His mother lights the old stove and adds aromas of loganberry griddle cakes and maple syrup to the lingering scent of nostalgia that has woken the butterflies in his belly, embracing this sacred space where time stands still, even as each season, he crosses the threshold a little taller than he was before.
